A recent World Health Organization statement aligns with work conducted by the ABACUS consortium, which recommended using appropriate regulatory labelling as a low-cost, high-impact tool to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Global regulatory leaders emphasized the critical role of labelling in reducing the misuse and overuse of antibiotics. Labels should include essential information on proper use, safe disposal, and the environmental impacts of antimicrobial products, helping to reduce both AMR and environmental pollution. The importance of using context-appropriate communication tools—such as local languages, symbols, and pictograms—to effectively reach diverse audiences was also highlighted.
